Our thoughts on Dance

Wedding Dance

At Fred Astaire Menomonee Falls we know how important your wedding day is and we want to help make it even more special. Wedding dance lessons can help you feel proud and confident on your special day. Whether you want simple instruction, a choreographed dance for you or a dance for your entire wedding party, we’re here for you! Come visit us at our studio and we will let you know how we can help you to look picture-perfect while dancing as a married couple for the first time.

One of the most romantic and memorable moments of a wedding is when the couple is spotlighted as they do their first dance. When you are out there, you don’t want to be worrying about what you are doing. You want to look happy and glowing! We can make sure that you do. When they announce at your wedding….. “The bride and groom will begin their lives together with their first dance,” what will you do?

If you take advantage of Fred Astaire Dance Studios, you will step out to the middle of the dance floor looking confident and graceful and your friends and family will be amazed by your elegance, style, and grace. Do not leave this important part of your wedding to chance, and use this first dance as a wonderful way to begin your new life.

We will work with you on choreography for any dance you choose: Rumba, Waltz, Foxtrot, Tango, or whatever is right for your special day.

If you have a special song, we will work with you on simple, yet elegant choreography. You will look as if you have been dancing for years. When choreographing a wedding dance, we take into consideration the couple’s personality, the music, the size of the dance floor, and the time constraints of the couple. Since other wedding couples have found that if the bride and groom are dancing the whole reception, the other guests will join you on the dance floor. So we can instruct you in a number of social dances to ensure that you will always feel comfortable dancing the night away.

Fred Astaire Dance Studios is the place to help you put your style and grace in the spotlight. Become a star on your wedding, as you glide across the floor in the most important dance of your life. It will be yours forever, and you will have the gift of dance to share for the rest of your lives!

It is very popular now to make dance lessons a group event if you wish. Bring your family, friends, bridesmaids, or groomsmen in; we’ll teach everyone how to light up the dance floor!

When wedding planning gets stressful, use your lessons as a special date night, a time to focus on you.

Many couples view the dance lessons after the wedding as their on-going “date night”. With busy professional lives, it’s sometimes difficult to find time to focus on each other, to hold each other in their arms. And building on what you’ve accomplished with your wedding dance you have the tools you need to become that couple everyone looks at, admires and, yes, envies for years to come.

If you need wedding dance lessons, you will get the help you’re looking for at Fred Astaire Menomonee Falls. The quality of our courses is shown in the smiles on our students’ faces. Call us today and talk to one of our friendly representatives.

Benefits of Dance

When you dance, your cardiovascular system improves, your muscle tone increases and you burn calories. This low-impact aerobic activity also increases flexibility, strength, and balance. Olympic athletes often dance as part of their training to sharpen their control, agility, and speed. Dancing is great exercise, and our studios offer a pleasant, fun atmosphere in which to learn.

Dancers possess an aura of self-confidence and an ability to enjoy themselves more in social situations. When you learn how to dance, your entire mental outlook will take on a fresh sense of creativity, motivation, and energy. This new self-confidence in your dancing abilities will transfer to other aspects of your life as well.

Dance provides an emotional outlet so that you can express your feelings through your body movements with passion and flair. Dancing will bring out, improve upon, and strengthen your ability to permanently use these expressive qualities even when you are not dancing.

Social Life

Dancing lessons are an easy, low-pressure way to meet people. Fred Astaire Franchised Dance Studios provide weekly practice dance parties, nights out on the town, and regional and national competitions, as well as fun trips to many different locations. Our lessons are the perfect way to rediscover romance by dancing your way to love!

In today’s fast-paced world, we sometimes forget to take a moment for ourselves. Dancing provides an enjoyable escape from your normal daily routine, plus a chance to relax, relieve stress, and concentrate on yourself.

Dancing is a great way to add excitement to your life. Although learning to dance takes concentration and dedication, you will be constantly surrounded by artistic, cheerful people who make learning a pleasurable and rewarding experience. So join us and have some fun!

The Fred Astaire Difference

  1. Our Instructors are the most qualified dance instructors in the world! It is a requirement that they pass an exam every 6 months which is examined by one of our National Dance Board Examiners which ensures the highest standards that were set by Fred Astaire himself are upheld. In some other studios instructors are not certified and teach you "what they learned years ago or like".
  2. Our Trophy System was designed by the greatest dancer of all time Fred Astaire himself. Similar to the Olympics we have a Gold / Silver / Bronze level as well as foot based foundation programs designed to get you comfortable and confident with the basics. Our National Dance Board created “The Conceptual Method of Teaching” so that we can adapt to all learning styles to ensure you become a better dancer, faster!
  3. Three way system of learning. We offer Group Lessons which are designed to introduce new material, techniques and dances in a group environment with just the right blend of dancing with a partner and by yourself which allows you to improve your balance, control and co-ordination. Our Private lessons are then much more tailored to the individual student / couple to give you specific feedback and ensure you progress as fast as possible. Finally we host Newcomer Practice Parties where you get the opportunity to practice what you have learnt in a controlled and supportive environment. Our Instructors will assist you and be sure to introduce you to other people who also want to become better dancers, get a fun workout and become a better leader or follower.
  4. Working from our Programs. We try to ensure that at the end of a program you have something tangible like knowing the figures in certain dances while learning how to lead or follow, teach you how to listen to the music to identify timing and show rhythm, have the correct poise and posture and how to use the feet and body techniques to make your dancing look good and feel great. If you are taking lessons anywhere else when you take your last lesson do you know what you have learnt?
  5. Our studios are some of the most beautiful in the country. With purpose built spaces, and the finest music software, lighting and teaching tools you will experience the “Fred Astaire difference”.
  6. Studio and Regional Dance Directors. Each Fred Astaire Dance Studio has a Dance Director who is responsible for ensuring all levels of learning are met for both the Students and Staff. Additionally we have a Regional Dance Director who works with the Studio Dance Directors to ensure they are kept updated with changes in teaching techniques and updates in curriculum.

All of the above ensures that any student walking into a Fred Astaire Dance Studio can become a better dancer, faster. One of Fred Astaire’s most famous quotes is:

"Some people seem to feel that good dancers are born, but all the good dancers I know are taught or trained. To me dancing has always been fun, I enjoy every minute of it. I am glad that I can now put my knowledge to use in bringing personal confidence and a feeling of achievement to so many people".

This proves that if you think you have "two left feet", Fred Astaire Dance Studio’s can put one right!

5 Reasons Men Can Enjoy Ballroom Dancing Too

Some men might view ballroom dancing as an activity for women. How ever there have been some pretty manly men prove that they can dance with the best of them on hit TV shows like Dancing with the Stars.

The truth is there are lots of great reasons men should be interested in learning ballroom dance as well and I'll give you five of those reasons in this article.

Ballroom dance is not for any slouch. You're constantly moving, on your feet and stretching your muscles. You require a certain level of physical fitness to be able to perform some of the more popular ballroom dance styles. If you find you don't exercise as much as you used to then ballroom dancing can be a great activity to keep fit.

Dancing is as much about having a good time as it is about fitness. IF you go into dance lessons with an open mind you’ll find it's fun and is a great alternative to some of the regular things you used to do on a Friday night.

Team Work

Working together with your significant other to learn the steps to a particular dance takes team work. The type of team work that will spill over into the rest of your life around the house, with the kids or even just getting groceries. It's a great growth exercise.

Holding each other close during your dance lessons or during a night out on the town dancing is romantic. It builds intimacy between you and your partner and allows you to express your emotions in a new way, even if you normally have trouble talking about them. Many men decide to take ballroom lessons because they believe it will put them in the good books with their wives or girl friends, but if you really give yourself to process you’ll get so much more in return.

Find yourself asking your partner what do you want to do tonight a lot? We often end up doing the same old things over and over. Going to the movies, watching TV or reading a book. Why not spice things up with dance lessons or a night on the town.
